Reigning WORLD CLASS CANADA champion Grant Sceney said it best when he described WORLD CLASS as the ‘bartending competition every bartender wants to win because it challenges every facet of what makes a bartender great.’
We’re pleased to announce the country’s largest and most prestigious bartending competition is back and better than ever! From Canadian regional finals, to the Canadian finale in Chicago, and the global finale in South Africa, we’re raising the bar.
For the first time, WORLD CLASS CANADA is introducing regional heats, where 64 bartenders from four regions will compete for a coveted spot in the finals. To earn your spot, you must submit an original cocktail recipe via Facebook featuring at least one brand from the Diageo Reserve collection. Each cocktail will be judged and the top sixteen bartenders with the highest scoring cocktails will advance to the semi-finals.
While there are no online modules this year, you will be required to complete a written test during the semi-finals testing your knowledge of Diageo’s Reserve brands, so be prepared! Each semi-finalist will also be required to perform one WORLD CLASS CANADA challenge.
The winner from each region will automatically advance to the finals followed by the next six highest scoring bartenders from all four regions combined. Remember, even though you may not win your region, your overall score may still advance you to the finals.
This year, the top ten finalists will compete for the Canadian title in Chicago where one Canadian winner and one US winner will be crowned. By competing in Chicago, you have the unique opportunity to showcase your technique and showmanship to one of the world’s most esteemed judging panels, some of whom will be judging the global finals too.

April 9th – Portal opens to receive cocktail submissions (accessible via Facebook)
April 20th – Portal closes: cocktail submission deadline (semi-finalists will be informed exactly eight days before their regional heat)
May 3rd – Mid-West Regional Finals in Calgary
May 5th – BC Regional Finals in Vancouver
May 10th – Quebec and Atlantic Regional Finals in Montreal
May 12th – Ontario Regional Finals in Toronto
June 21st – June 25th – WORLD CLASS CANADA Finals in Chicago
August 28th – September 5th – DIAGEO WORLD CLASS Global Finals in South Africa
