We are just a few days into Women’s History month, a time to pay reverence to all the incredible women, trans women and nonbinary femmes in our industry.
Our industry unfortunately is no different than all the others – far too often across the board, there are a multitude of glass ceilings causing incredible inequities for so many important people in our community. If we don`t talk about these things out loud, we will never push forward on our path for real change.
While March 8th is officially International Women’s Day, we should be celebrating the history and accomplishments of all our incredibly talented women, trans women and nonbinary femme peers every single day.
We invite you to keep your eyes on our feeds, as throughout this month, as we’ll be posting a series of articles and links to recognize and amplify key people and causes. There are many opportunities to get involved and participate.
We’ve collected a few events below; some may cost a little bit of money to pay for important labour. Some may be free. But all of them are certainly a good use of time.
To start out west in Vancouver, CPBA Vice President Amber Bruce along with Chickadee`s very own Sabrine Dhaliwal have a series of online events to align with this year’s #ChooseToChallenge theme for #IWD2021. Throughout the month they’re hosting four interactive Zoom sessions covering a range of topics such as challenging gender norms, fitness, nutrition, finance and of course food and beverage.
On March 8th, Campari Academy is hosting an International Women’s Day discussion panel featuring some of the world’s leading rum thinkers, including Maggie Campbell, Jen Akin, and guest of honour, Joy Spence.
